UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL GLEE CLUBS News Release Local Contact: Cathy Pescevich Kreplin St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church (252) 955-0706 – cell

LOCAL STUDENTS PERFORM WITH THE UNC-CH GLEE CLUBS IN NAGS HEAD Chapel Hill, N.C. – Brothers Dolan Potter and R.C. Eberhard, sons of Traci and Doug Potter of Kitty Hawk, N.C., will perform with the Women’s and Men’s Glee Clubs from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in a concert at St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea in Nags Head at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. The concert will be held in the church’s sanctuary and is open to all ages. There will be no admission charge, but a love offering will be collected. In addition to Nags Head, the Glee Clubs’ 2018 tour locations include Pittsboro, N.C., Clemmons, N.C., Chantilly, Va., and Washington, D.C. The UNC-Chapel Hill Glee Clubs, conducted by Dr. Sue T. Klausmeyer and Dr. Daniel M. Huff, are among the oldest organizations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and include thousands of alumni as past members. The poetry for the familiar “Hark the Sound,” UNC-Chapel Hill’s well-known alma mater, was written by William Myers, a second tenor from the group and was first performed by the Glee Club in 1897. Members of the two groups are chosen through audition and represent towns and cities across North Carolina, as well as other states and countries. In addition to this tour, the groups perform several times annually on campus, including two formal concerts and a number of sacred performances at local religious centers. Their 2018 repertoire includes works by Handl, Poulenc, Hayes, Tomkins, Dickau and Berlioz, as well as a new work by Men’s Glee Club member Garth Molyneux and a piece from the hit musical “Hamilton.” The two groups lead efforts to support music education in North Carolina and beyond. In early January, the Men’s Glee Club will host its annual All-Carolina Invitational Male Choral Festival, while the Women’s Glee Club will host the Carolina Women’s Choral Showcase featuring high school women’s choirs in mid-February.
